As specialists in TR19 guidelines as set out by the British Engineering Services Association (BESA), we understand the importance of cleaning canopies and grease extraction systems in commercial kitchens. With many companies offering this service, it can be overwhelming and confusing to choose the right cleaning professionals, and it’s never been more important to reduce the risk of fires with incidence of ducting fires on the increase.
TR19, which was developed and dedicated to upholding kitchen standards, protecting the general public and provide guidelines to be followed to regulate these standards. TR19, which was developed by BESA to provide guidelines on how grease extraction systems should be cleaned recommend the following when considering a contractor:
Health & Safety:
TR19 recommends that a Health and Safety Policy and description of safe methods of work specific to ventilation hygiene work are in place. It is also suggested that contractors should have records of training and competency for their staff that will be working on site.
As a BESA (formerly B&ES) accredited contractor, we have the recognised awards and certifications as outlined in TR19, being Safe Contractor and CHAS accredited. In addition our ethos to excel in our Health and Safety standards is evidenced by our IOSHH qualified Risk Assessors and this approach sets us apart from other contractors within the cleaning industry.
Experience is important when looking for any service as a business, which is why TR19 recommend acknowledgement of the number of years a contractor has been operating as a ventilation hygiene specialist. We are proud that DeepClean Hygiene has over 16 years’ experience in specialising in kitchen and extraction deep cleans.
It is suggested that all staff and field operatives should be trained with a minimum of the BESA Green Book training scheme or similar. At DeepClean Hygiene we do not use sub-contractors. All of our staff are employed directly by us so we can guarantee they are CRB checked, Green Book Trained and H&S training records are maintained with further training constantly being carried out.
Contractors should work with quality systems or competent qualified assessors should audit work. DeepClean Hygiene is third party audited to BESA with documented work flow process and procedures in place.
These rigorous procedures help to ensure that our service is delivered without any hiccups and all the evidence required for your Fire Safety Compliance Report are compiled and submitted post clean.
